Myth 1  We incarcerate people in Canada at a lower rate than the USA, not because we have a smaller population  USA has a higher incarceration rate than the rest of the world  Canada has an incarceration rate that Is quite high when compared to other European countries 2. Myth 2  When public polling is done, Canadians are more similar than not similar to American opinions on the death penalty  Some states in the USA still have the death penalty 3. Myth 3  Aboriginals are 5 to 10 times more likely than regular Canadians to be incarcerated 4. Myth 4  Canada is considered a world leader when it comes to gender and ethnic specific punishment 5.
