Document Summary

Info about crime is often very general- we get our info from police records, media, internet, academic/ scholarly, people- fam and friends. Problems with crime-most of it is hidden for obvious reasons. Sometimes criminologists know more about gangs than a gang member. It is difficult also time consuming only partial sig. of results. Some crimes just cannot be studied- scope-so well hidden, very difficult to penetrate. But then even if you get in you cant get into rival group. But these are people who got caught so fucked up thus u cant generalize. >crime rates- means it is police recorded- mostly are assault/ utter a threat- thus pretty minor crime. Mostly cos they don"t think it is worth it, fear consequence of offender, also if you are involved as seen young male criminal is mostly like also a victim. Or it is not serious enough like your shoes, or threatened.
