The social institution of gender sees men and women as different. There is an increased number of women in traditionally male dominated jobs (policing, corrections, engineering, medicine, etc. ) Men still have more power and make more money than women. Sex category: the assignment of a label assigned based on genitalia at birth. Gender identity: how you see your self, your sense of your own gendered self. Gendered marital and procreative status: men can"t have children but women can. Gendered sexual orientation: how you express yourself and how you orientate yourself towards others. Gendered personality: internal mechanisms of how you see your self and how you behave. Gendered processes: we are taught the process of what it means to be a man or a woman. Gender beliefs: we can resist traditional dominant gender codes of society. How we define criminality, now we sanction behaviour how we respond to victimization is all gendered.
