Ex. uni logos used to connect to medieval era but no longer - moving away from medieval rules. 1867: only 4 of 10 registered students would attend on any given school day. 100 years later: regular, full attendance the norm. Expectation is to attend regularly or there are consequences. In grades over 9th grade, number of students decline over years - educational expansion.
