Octavia e butler, art/activism, afro-futurism, and living in the now. Was a black writer, she wrote in a field called speculative fiction, futuristic environments, imagine world. Her story starts when things are very bad. They search and learn how to take care of each other. The leaders of these stories are intergenerational black, disabled. Compromise citizenship where there is white male dominated colleagues. She writes a lot about change in her journals. She was telling as she was able to tell the future. She was writing the future based on the present. White supremacy held the highest level of the government, with the existence of jealousy. She witnessed the power struggles and then wrote about them. Portraits of activists because she was an activist, drawing makes her understand their lives and organizing.
