Ex:domestication of dogs (breeding for the type of animal they want: sexual selection. Selection on features or behaviours associated with mating. Used to create more offspring, not to adapt to environment. 2 kinds of sexual selecting: male-male competition. Winner will mate and produce more offspring. Increase the number of females that a male can mate with. Cost of reproduction for males is low: coulation. Cost of reproduction for females is high: copulation, pregnancy, lactation. Leads to non-random mating: cultural background, race, religion, wealth. Inbreeding: extreme form of non-random mating, hasburg jaw, physical, intellectual, emotional disabilities, impotence. Evolutionary change as a result of random process.
