You can do anthropology by looking at a lot of people and tracing patterns. Or by looking in depth at 1 person so long as you understand the context. Forced segregation based on race and ethnicity: started with the aim to preserve cultures. Least desirable areas were given to black people. Blacks had to apply to live in townships and commute into city, had to carry passport. Whites and blacks couldn"t spend the night in other areas.
