After next week, will be able to view exams. Writing assignment due friday not using turnitin anymore. 3 axes of continuity in euro-american body ideals: the dualist axis, the control axis, the gender/power axis. Cultural constructionism human behaviour and ideas are best explained as the result of culturally-shaped learning. Ex. biological determinism would suggest human male has better spatial skill vs female due to natural selection. Ex. cultural constructionism would suggest spatial skill are passed on thru learning and parent social their son and daughter differently. Boys are more likely to learn spatial skills than girls. They get block/legos/things to shoot at/drive, girls often get things to cuddle, nurture, things to sleep, etc. It"s this learning that gives boys better spatial skills than girls. Looking at gender identity /roles one of the first thing we need to know when interacting w/ someone is if they"re a boy or girl. A category that is significant to all human cultures.
