Medial is close to centre, lateral is further from centre. Proximal and distal is similar to medial and lateral. Proximal is closer, and distal is further. Superior means higher, inferior is lower (above or below) Anterior/ventral is the front, posterior/dorsal is back. Superficial is closer to the surface, deep means inside. Membrane closest to organ is visceral, membrane further is parietal. Serous fluid is non sticky, smooth fluid, this is in where heart is pumping. There are 4 major types of tissues. Epithelium is a large sheet of cells that cover or protect something, these are very close together. Connective tissue involves tissue that connect things together like tendons and ligaments, but also blood, lymph, fat. Epithelial tissue are polar, meaning two different surfaces with different structures. Apical surface is where it comes into contact with the outside environment. Muscle cell, heart cell are all the same, don"t have polarity.
