Efficiency of glycolysis: we can use the above information to calculate the efficiency of glycolysis, efficiency = Gconserved by anabolic part of the reaction. Semester: summer 2020: both of these effects apply in the context of facultative anaerobes, which can grow in either the presence or absence of oxygen, glycolysis alone yields 2atp/glucose, but oxidative phosphorylation yields 38atp/glucose. Under anaerobic conditions, the rate of glucose metabolism is faster, but the amount of atp produced is smaller.
