BIOC19H3 Lecture Notes - Lecture 1: Epithelium, Cell Signaling, Zebrafish
Document Summary
These steps are pretty common for all mammals but there might be a slight difference among them. Cell cleavage there is a fertilized egg that is divided in a large number of cells. Focus on what happen at this time at which side of the embryos. Pattern formation this process is very important because this is what can determine where the leg forms, where the head forms and etc. This will basically determine the location of the organism. Make sure you know the name of each axis. (anterior, dorsal, posterior, ventral) Morphogenesis basically changes the 3d part of the growth, like where the head should be where the leg should be etc. Apoptosis is basically known as the cell death, change morphology of an embryo. Apoptosis is preprogrammed in the dna; it is like a programmed death. Necrosis is unregulated cell death, usually from disease, in contrast to apoptosis.
