Bomb calorimeter can be used to find the energy by completely combusting the feces and measure the heat produced. Used to measure metabolic rate over a number of days. Don"t need an animal to be enclosed. D is going to get into the water pool in the body, radioactive o2 gets into both o2 and co2. Radioactive levels increase in blood, then you get some d loss, and that"s the water loss. The o18 loss is more rapid bc its lost in water and co2.
