Thursday, October 11, 2012 WILLIAMS - Lecture 14 – Cp 12, 8 & 9 Bacterial Chromosome – made up of DNA and proteins Karyotype is used to looked at for DNA number variations  Mice born from skin cells / skin cells must have DNA – just saying  Chromosomes (colored bodies) and The stuff of heredity o Genetic units divided by mitosis  Telomerases o Enzymes that extend DNA at the end of the Chromosomes o Important in Eukaryotic cells particularly o Are active in Cancer cells (usually inactive)  Bacteria has a single circular chromosome o The origin of replication in bacteria is the first thing that happens  Chromosomes o Made up of DNA, (wound around histone proteins =nucleosomes)
