Speciation: the process by which one species split into two or more daughter species, the process happens gradually. Also, within the same species, animals from different parts of the world look different (ex. Reproductive isolation: they can reproduce with each other but not with another population. If species become isolated into 2 different populations, then you have two species that evolve as separate species, they have differences in their genetic structure and the 2 populations may no longer be able to exchange genes. 2 ways the separation of the species can take place: Allopatric specification: when there is a physical barrier that separates the individuals, this is thought to be the dominant mode of separation (glaciers, water body come up, continent split) Darwin s finches: he said that members of the same species looked different because they were raised in different environments (ex.
