BIOC14H3 Lecture Notes - Lecture 5: Kin Selection, Adenylyl Cyclase, Inclusive Fitness
Document Summary
Slide 4: there is a variation for adcy7 (adenylyl cyclase 7) that would make cyclic amp (camp) that there is a weird genetic variant, we found that a gwas of 70000 people that are influencing height. Some o the alleles have an influence of 2cm per allele. Slide 5: we started with dna (genome), to go protein and then we will go to behaviour, how the environme(cid:374)t is goi(cid:374)g to affe(cid:272)t all of these p(cid:396)o(cid:272)ess a(cid:374)d ho(cid:449) it"s goi(cid:374)g to affe(cid:272)t (cid:455)ou(cid:396) phe(cid:374)ot(cid:455)pe. This will affect reproduction because they are able to arrive at reproductive traits, and they will pass on those traits to the offspring. So this tells us that organisms can change over time: the allele f(cid:396)e(cid:395)ue(cid:374)(cid:272)(cid:455) i(cid:374) a populatio(cid:374) (cid:272)a(cid:374) (cid:272)ha(cid:374)ge o(cid:448)e(cid:396) ti(cid:373)e if the t(cid:396)ait is beneficial, the allele frequency to increase in that population in that condition. So this is kind of like the survival of the fittest.
