So far, we didn’t seriously considered waves as mathematical objects,
we only used their basic physical properties like interference and
diffraction to rationalize behavior of quantum particles in the double
slit experiment.
To move on to more quantitative theory:
First, we will consider math of classical waves because they are
simpler and more intuitive.
Second, by using the de Broglie relation and a solution of a wave
equation we will rationalize the Schrodinger equation for waves
corresponding to quantum particles.
