For most, the main goal has been to inform newcomers about the structure of government, rights and responsibilities as citizens in political participation. Some consultations with community members through interviews or focus groups early in programme in order to fine tune information areas needed during training or to obtain insight on attitudes and perceptions. Community service organizations seek collaboration with newcomers through alliances and partnerships with local community organizations that best represent the newcomer group, often marginalized or racialized groups. Together they agree on training strategies that are likely to be successful for that unique community, including access requirements and communication material adaptation.
