International relations are important to study as they are part of our everyday life: the entire population of our globe is divided into separate political communities called states. Ir specialists focus in fact on inter-state relations; but some approaches privilege a truly inter- national perspective, thus also studying the role of ngos (non-governmental organizations), companies, terrorist groups, social movements. The discipline itself started to develop in the 1920 in wales (aberystwyth). It is often taught within political science departments, yet it is a subject matter located at the crossroads between many disciplines (history, law, geography, sociology, philosophy and economics). Numerous debates have been taken place that focus on different view-points of what should we study and how should study. Ir: the set of relations happening beyond the controlled space of each state individually, whoever are the actors state or non-state intertwined in those relations, being political or non-political.
