Document Summary

Contains fossils that link directly to modern humans. The african plate is over a huge plume of magma which melts the bottom layer of the plate causing the ground to ripple and tear. The formation and disappearance of lakes was due to repeated swings of climate. When lakes disappeared it helped humans evolve and adapt. The somalia plate is moving away from the african plate. Lava had been broken up into balls. The volcanic activity reacts with salt deposits. Magma is very close to the surface. Bacteria here is the oldest life forms. Shield volcano(don"t explode, rather flow like blood across the landscape) When a volcano dies it brings up sulfur gasesbrings up minerals. Only 4 active lava lakes in the world. The darker the lava the more recent the eruption. The magma in the fissures pushes the african and somalian plates apart. Petra (used to be a trade central) Arabian plate has a lot of erosion.
