We need environmental scientists because a lot of what is going in underneath our feet. Anthropocene- the epoch of man last two hundred years, the industrial revolution and on. It means in greek the age of man. Bio turbation rocks older than 600 million years, once life kicks in then you start seeing over printing on the rocks and they destroy original structure. Urban sprawl large super cities, completely changing landscape and harden the landscape a lot more run off during storms, effects are more well pronounced. Most of ontario is undelaying fill- often built on they"ve got contaminants. Nuclear waste- huge issue in canada, different types high level, low, and medium. We have spent billions of dollars trying to find a place to store the high level radiation, consensus has been around burying it in the shield. Its in pickering its been stored on site, right in the middle of urban dense population.
