Deconstruction means taking something apart and seeing how it was

Continents grow through time by obduction
North American continent shows 5 growth stages:
a.Artica (2.7 Ga [giga-annum])
b.Columbia (1.8 Ga)
c.Rodinia (1.0 Ga)
A + B + C = Canadian Shield (the craton)
d.Pangea assembly (350 Ma); Maritime Canada is added during
Appalachians Orogeny
e.Pangea breakup (<200 Ma); BC is added during Cordilleran
Orogeny (ie Rockies)
Zircon is used in uranium age dating. Tom Krogh was the guy who is
responsible for getting this zircon age dating to a recognizable stage
Acasta Gneiss is the oldest rock in Canada going back to 4.1 billion
years old, but this rock has been detrital meaning that its a derivative
of something else, hence is only been dated after it was metamorphosed
Province broad areas characterized by similar geology but by sharp
boundaries,
Orogen is the rock that results from the process, quick, highly
deformed, like gneiss
Lithoprobe means probing rocks, they create seismic waves to use
refraction to understand the shield through seismic transects
