Health and the environment lecture 3: world"s water comes from surface water sources and ground water sources. Stress on world"s major river basins: how much water is available and how much is used. World"s problems: don"t have enough water or use too much, water needs to be transported to big cities, big reservoirs of fresh water are shrinking. If water is used it is important to return ii to its original source in water cycle. Hydrological poverty: do not have access to clean water, pure and personal hygiene. Drinking water: hot water holds more lead or metal, soft water and acidic water attracts more metal, suzuki; chemicals from plastic bottles come into your bottle; depends on how long water has been in bottle. Confined aquifer; water is squeezed in between; more safe; requires deep drilling; water is under pressure so it will go up itself, doesn"t need to be pumped. +artisian wells; when water goes up by itself.
