Until they are warm and fed, everything is imaginary to them. Soon they will understand symbolism (the word milk symbolizes food to a baby). The symbolic and the imaginary coordinate themselves until our awareness is increased. The loss of transcendental certitude can be replaced with other belief systems. If we don"t believe in anything, we are open to being told what to think and believe.
