C10 lecture- July 9, 2013 Body natural vs Body Politics Natural physical body vs Blood, office, lineage - Body politics transfers from one to another (immortal) but body natural can die Parliament  legislative body (make laws) Relationship & tension b/w Parliament and King is Arnold’s argument Arnold’s article talks about a political legal historic tradition  what people were saying at the time about the political system  called themselves the Mouth of the commons Arnold’s article  Jack Cade swallows the house of politics (the very one Henry VI unknowingly abandoned) - Asks: how can one person stand in for another? o When Henry is in parliament he is the body politics  Example: Prof is a tyrant in the lec room, he is encompassing everything, he is all of us. No forms of representations what so ever o Can have people representing a royal person as well o Talks about mimicking others - Are parliament and king two separate things?
