The gospels: galilean carpenter-prophet in mark to the incarnate heavenly word. 3 synoptic gospels mark, mathew, & luke. They all narrate the life of jesus. Writing of the gospels occur much later than jesus" death. Paul"s letters are not about jesus"s life exactly more about the significance of jesus" death and the building of the christian church. So we don"t get information about jesus" life until mark comes around and writes about him. Germany is where serious studies of the bible started. Between the time of jesus" death and the time mark wrote it down there must have been a strong oral tradition. Another book that has been lost: q! Many of the stories in mathew & luke are not in mark, and it"s quite clear that each of these books have been written independently so they must have gathered info from another source: most likely q.
