Tuesday February 25 2013 Agenda: • Self reflection­ self assessment due Thursday to professor VIA e­mail • Explicit terms what you did, the achievements you accomplished: Task and hours • Candid evaluation of your work: what you did well, and what you didn’t do well,  areas for improvement • Assessment of your peers—separately (individual) Arab Women and Cinema • Arab women want to be apart of respectable film that preserve their honour • Get a lot of money that encourages them to stay away from the movie industry  because it is not “Islamic” • Egypt phenomenon of retiring actresses • Now there are foreign actors coming in • Downfall of Egyptian cinema­ lack of political and economic stability • Second issue of concern is foreign presence, how can we think of Arab cinema  when it is finalized in western countries? Does foreign presence justify the fact  that these Arab movies can be successful through foreign presence • Got o foreign country to get degree in cinema studies, which causes their movies  coming from there
