Arctic Pollutants -Source of pollutants is the industrialized parts of the world. Arctic Haze -mostly found in winter -arctic sink for pollutants that are emitted far away from the arctic – go in arctic oceans, and when these are in the aqueous system – being such as fish are absorbing the pollutants which humans then consume. ->Main constituents: vanadium – carcinogen -1972: Glen Shaw -surface in arctic is so cold that there is warm air on top of cold surface; increasing temperature in height – inversion. -no washout of pollutants that are in the atmosphere, in the arctic Impacts of Arctic Haze -*Bioaccumulation: Remedy: POPs -go high up in the foodchain very quickly due
