Document Summary

What are the gas phase constituents? (details in chapter 1) Look at right side of slide (water vapor cfcs). The gases are in very small amounts, yet very important because they are greenhouse gases. Some of them are natural and some of them anthropogenic. We see how these create the greenhouse effect. The inert gases are gases (no significant change in concentration) The greenhouse gases are dynamic, the concentration are changing with latitude and what kind of chemical reaction they are undergoing. Most of the greenhouse gases are well mixed in the atmosphere. Have to think globally if you want to fix some atmosphere problems. Co2 is one of the most important greenhouse gases in the atmosphere and is one of the biggest culprits in global warming. In the summer less co2 and winter we have higher. This is because in summer more leaves, so less co2. Methane is a worse greenhouse gas because it has a longer life.
