Socrates: science on art, ion (an artist) puts emotion into homer, but so(cid:272)rates argues that io(cid:374) does(cid:374)(cid:859)t really k(cid:374)o(cid:449) a(cid:374)ything about. Homer bc he only looks @ homer and nothing else, there is nothing to compare homer to: socrates basically bashes the artist. Aristotle: rhetoric, is art a bad thing, he argued that poetry was more elevated than history. Ancient greece: the greatest show on earth: art can have a powerful impact. 5 different companies that have these curves, all of them would be diff: so which one would you believe, that really depends on persuasion. Persuasion: there are three modes or persuasions (from aristotle, 1. it really depends on the personal character of the speaker, 2. It depends on putting the audience into a certain frame of mind: that(cid:859)s the a(cid:271)ility to get you to feel (cid:449)ith the speaker, 3. You would want to have something ilke 3 major highlights that they have done in their lives.
