GASA02H3 Lecture Notes - Lecture 3: Mavenir, Alternative Medicine, Phlegm
Document Summary
Gasa02 week 3: a physician"s view, lecture notes. We dealt with this large subject by observing a disparate and overlapping few versions, visions of the world. We spent that lecture on embryologies, views on how a human gets from conception to birth. We will think of the concerns of the physician: anatomy (views on the structure of the human body), physiology (views on the functioning of the human body), and diagnosis of disease. These are substantial topics, with wide variance in treatment over time, place and individual opinion. So we will, as usual, have to abandon all hope of a comprehensive account, and instead pick a simpler entry point into the debate. This will be the structure of the lecture: Part 1: the pulse in classical greece and china. Here kuriyama talks about the pulse: what it has meant and how it has been used in medicine.
