Ecotourism: responsible travel to natural areas which conserves the environment and improves the welfare of local people. Outside money, property ownership, designs, new land uses: from spaces of production to spaces of consumption = leisure spaces, new meanings of space, place, and environment, loss of local control: tourist enclaves. Impacts on visual landscapes and natural ecosystems through: forest clearance, coastal zone construction, eco-tourism. Exploitation and degradation of natural resources: ie water.
