Came up with the ideas of natural communities premised on the grouping of plants and animals that can be found in nature. Somewhat akin to environmental determinism , tried to explain social phenomenon as natural biological process. Critics found it did not do a good job explaining complex human relations especially in urban settings. Legacy of chicago school- community as neighbourhood. We have started to look at a network approach. W/ rise of social media, shape of communities us changing dramatically community may not be a big block. November 3, 2015 communities have provide players for social changes voice to be heard awareness for groups.
