It is core job b/c it contributes a significant portion of india"s exports - 33% If mega cities want to become global cities, they need to engage in global industries such as it sectors. 3 icon cities as global cities: new york, london, tokyo. They have command and control over the global economy. Key finance & other leading services which have replace manufacturing sector. Need central control and command management centers. Decentralization of production has not been accompanied by decentralization of ownership: spatial expression of this tgreat territorial dispersal of economic activities. Agglomeration of command functions in a few sites i. e. global cities.
