Congestion, pollution, water & air quality are a problem in megacities. Governance is a problem in china"s & india"s cities. Most megacity growth will be in developing and third world countries like china & south. Asia in 2015, shown in the german global megacities map. Plato said that proper decision making could be made if cities had an ideal size of 50,000. This is because everyone knew eachother and that size sustained environmental capacity. If the city became overpopulated, people had to relocate to colonies. What is a good population size? became a main question, especially in ww2 and became debatable until the 1970s. 1970s- harry richardson argued that it"s impossible to determine the best city size because it depends on variables. Different economic structures, activities, etc have different population sizes. Economy of scale: as you make more goods, they become cheaper per unit. This occurs with houses & travel in some cities.
