Document Summary

There isn"t any more ppl to move from rural to urban. Since 1950 there has been massive growth in populations esp. in developing countries. Africa and asia : show huge amouns of growth in urban areas: this is urbanization. Even today, africa and asia are only @ 50% so there"s still billions of ppl that live in rural areas: there can still be a lot of urbanization that can happen in the next 4 yrs. It"s a way of explaining the massive increase of population. Almost no countries are @ stage 2. Japan is actually in stage 5: death rates decline before birth rates. There is no population growth b/c of high death rates. Stage 2: death rate suddenly decline due to medical care, birth rate stays high, huge increase in total population. Stage 3: increase in wealth, better health care, maternal education, etc. Stage 4: population decline, gov try to encourage families to have more kids.
