What makes our city what it is, are all the things we all do everyday over and over again. Oligopticon: refers to idea that we all know a little bit about the city based on our experiences. City as a lived complexity amin and thrift. Everyone experiences the city in different ways: often times, these experiences can be shaped by who we are or who others think we are, this can be because of: A majority of methods of understanding cities and urban life have been visual. Cities are made up of smellscapes and soundscapes: our 5 senses play a huge role in our experience and understanding of the city, and shaped urban spaces and our behaviour in them. Rhythm in the city: cities are made up of different rhythms that organize and produce space. Daily commerce: every city has its own particular rhythm, e. g. Consider how a single street can transform radically over a single 24 hour cycle.
