Lecture 8 : gender, sexuality, race and urban space. The city is much talked about for the concepts such as women wearing pants which is assoicated with women becoming outgoing and walk freely and countering strangers. It is also a place to have free set of expressions. The city is bound up to these freedoms. Cities as sites of sexual danger and immoral space. The book- looks at women in public space , women seen at night becomes so risk taking. Immoral spaces- there are spaces to express your sexuality and also places where it is not safe. There are sites of good and bad sexuality. Places that not safe for expressing your sexuality - red light districts, gay neighbourhoods, strip clubs and night and day scapes. Women in public space have been frequently associated with immoral behaviour, sexual impropriety or sexual danger.
