Jeganathan, 1 Global East Asia Notes  Modernity in itself is the phenomenon of current events and how they affect society. In a Global East Asian academic perspective we can observe how "modern" activities have diversified and technologically advanced the orient.  The Tokugawa shogunate, also known as the Tokugawa bakufu and the Edo bakufu, was a feudal regime of Japan established by Tokugawa Ieyasu and ruled by the shoguns of the Tokugawa family. (1603-1867)  The Meiji period, also known as the Meiji era, is a Japanese era which extended from September 1868 through July 1912. This period represents the first half of the Empire of Japan during which Japanese society moved from being isolated in feudalism to its modern form.  Nagasaki: The site for the deployment of the atomic bomb. Nagasaki is the trade center which foreigners resided. PASSIONATE  Sino Japanese war (Part 1): Fought between Qing Dynasty China and Meiji Japan for primary control over Korea. (1 August 1894- 17 April 1895)  (Part 2): A military conflict fought primarily between the Republic of China and the Empire of Japan. (July 7, 1937 - September 9, 1945)  Russo Japanese War: The great war between the Russian Empire and the Japanese empire over the possession of Manchur
