Olaudah was taken as a slave 4 times and was kidnapped 12 times while he was still in
Africa. While in Africa, he was treated more poorly by his masters than he was a slave
in Europe and America.
This shows the amount of problems the slave trade caused in Africa because of
the profits that came of slaving.
Olaudah’s family owned slaves so he was used to slaves in his everyday life.
This occurred in the 19 century while a slave transport ship was travelling from Africa
to Cuba. The slaves rebelled and overtook the ship. They were later tried in the United
