Inquiry conducted to develop language that is based on available evidence by following certain rules and procedures (saks and allsop) Asking questions and answers have to be based in evidence, and the rules are universal its all about perspective principle of health research. What are we studying, who, why, so what? (the most important) you need to know why its important. Discovery and change: a lot of different dimensions that need to be approached. Ontological assumptions: single and universal relity that is independent of us that can be discoverable and objectively measured. Epistemological assumptions: legitimate knowledge is knowledge that must be scientifically verified and can be proven using the scientific method. Pieces of the positivist research puzzle: determinism event occur according to natural law and causes, empiricism enquiry must be conducted through observation. Knowledge must be evidence based: skepticism a statement that is open to analysis and critique, objectivity research is detached from subjects.
