What are we studying, who, why, so what? (the most important) you need to know why its important. Discovery and change: a lot of different dimensions that need to be approached. Ontological assumptions: single and universal relity that is independent of us that can be discoverable and objectively measured. Epistemological assumptions: legitimate knowledge is knowledge that must be scientifically verified and can be proven using the scientific method. Pieces of the positivist research puzzle: determinism event occur according to natural law and causes, empiricism enquiry must be conducted through observation. Knowledge must be evidence based: skepticism a statement that is open to analysis and critique, objectivity research is detached from subjects.
