Focus on chapter 1: figure 1. 1 anchoring models that organize thinking. Sdoh: there are 4 parts and/or sections that focus on such things as ex. housing, policy, law, income, gender, education, etc. Quality of such factors determine how these policies are used and/or organized, looking for patterns that are produced and organized. Emily durkheim: he looked and found that suicide rates changed from place to place, region to region, affecting genders, positions and/or hierarchies. Inequalities isn"t exactly mapped out in our charts, we have to decipher this ourselves. When we look at aboriginal communities vs. non-aboriginal communities this becomes a living reality where the detrimental effects of social determinants are quite visible to the naked eye. Poverty, illness, history of public health, social studies of medicine are all factors to take into consideration. Poverty and ill-health: there are striking differences reported in the death rates of those who are rich vs. those who are poor.
