95% of respondents are using electronic device before going to night. When it comes to late night video gaming—kids
13-18 worst offenders reason why people are not getting to sleep on time are because they are engaged and artificial
light that is being emitted by electronic devices are over stimulating the brain and not enough melatonin to occur and as
a result and leads to difficulty falling asleep an hour before they hit the bed.
Dr Charles Samuel ( Centre for sleep,,, in Calgary people are connected for 24 hours a day because of all these
electronic devices. 1/10 people are reporting that they are getting awaken by sleep from phone call, email, txt msg every
night or almost every night.
Suggestions: turn off electronics after 9:00
- because rely on electronic rely on coffee to get throughout the day and nap…sleep deprived people reporting that
fatigue is affecting mood, social life and work life.
Sleep is important for human development at any age. Not having enough sleep can often be confused with memory
problems esp. in the elderly. Elderly may not be using electronic devices but there is other reasons ( stress, grief and
loss) …elder will be given medication that can interfere with ability to sleep. Also chronic conditions that cause pain
and interrupt sleep RHEUMATOID ARTHRITIS…may have difficulty sleeping—having problem sleeping—be
fatigued and you may think that person has memory problem such as dementia…
Sleep interruption is prob. Amongst the elderly…Falls are the common cause of injuries and account for many
hospitizations in elder.

Woman who drink 1 or more servings sugary drink per day ( includes orange juice) are at an increased risk for
developing condition as GOUT. GOUT is a type of arthritis and it occurs when uric acid crystals form in the joints.
GOUT will complain of pain in the big toe or ankle. DIET SOFT DRINKS were NOT associated with the RISK FOR

Dull the memories for people that survive this stress have difficulty sleeping, PTDS… how can we delete these painful
memories in people. DR. KAREEM NADAAR—we are not so far away from deleting this. Dr. NADAAR said that
research of medication will help and dull the pain associated with trama.. turn traumatic memory and transform it into
an ordinary memory ( did research in mcgill montreal). If use medication called Propranorlol ( beta blocker and
developed over 40 years ago for people suffering high BP and angina) that basically will dull effect of memory and it is
now being tested that if administered after traumatic event for person who experienced this trauma will not develop
PTSD. ( showed muted physiological response to memory) and work on ways to provide in future some initiative to
offer medication to people in future
Fight or Flight hormones—raise BP. People can have heart problems in 40s dont have to be 65 and older to
experience chest pains and cardiovascular problems. Stress is a stable part of life. Its relative
