More than the absence of disease, looks beyond a strict focus on the healer and patient relationship. Colonization is any form of invasion or subjugation of people. It can begin or continue as geographical intrusion, agricultural, urban or industrial encroachments. The relationship between the colonized and colonizer is unequal, where the colonizer always has the upper hand in the relationship. The first nations lost 98% of original lands and the metis nations people lost 83% of the red river lots that belonged to them. Institutionalized racism: involved in the structure of society, racism codi ed in institution of practice, law and/or government inaction in the face of need. This is a type of racism that needs to be spoken out about, as it is normalized. Personally mediated racism: de ned as prejudice and discrimination, and can manifest itself as a lack of respect, suspicion, devaluation or dehumanization.
