Investors and big investment banks now trading in agriculture stocks in futures: financial demand in food increase prices, finance firms hoard contracts to corner markets, driving up price of food. Increasing profit for finance market: more expensive for consumers. Average person needs 2100-2200 kcal to have a sustainable lifestyle but currently producing more than needed, enough food is def. produced for the entire world.
