Land dispossession central to colonialism people believed control over land as means of controlling labour asserting authority (controlling land= controlling people) Land dispossession via development projects (example: building of damns, building of houses, expansion of cities) Land dispossession via conservation areas (protected areas: people get relocated due to conservation areas. It was believed some people were ruining the land so they were moved y. Land loss via war (africa/natives: people were asked to leave due to loss of land during war. once the land is gone, the people are not likely to come back: sometime during the time war, the circumstances of living are sometimes low. once these people come back to their land it is no longer the same y natrural disasters and land loss y. Land inequality tend to ignite social struggles: example: 80% of the people owned 13% of the land y.
