Idsb02: lecture 5 - water and water scarcity. Familiarize you with the way water moves through the physical environment under regional climates. Exposure to water management issues of quality and quantity (water contamination and scarcity) particularly in the developing world. Combining movement of the itcz, the stpz, polar fronts and other currents, we can broadly describe regional climates of the world. Evaporation: is water changing from liquid to a gas or vapor. It"s a main driver of the hydrologic cycle and accounts from 90% of water vapor in the atmosphere. It mainly entails water moving from oceans, lakes, and rivers, into the atmosphere. Globally, evaporation is roughly equal to precipitation. Transpiration: is what"s released from plants out from their leaves through the stomata, into the atmosphere. It accounts for roughly 10% of all water in the atmosphere. Condensation: is the process by which water vapor in the air, is changed into liquid water.
