1.Absolute Universals:Occur in ALL languages
2.Universal Tendencies:Occur in MOST languages
3.Implicational Universals:
•If X then Y (but not if Y then X)
•Having one characteristic will imply the presence of another
feature
•Typically, a marked (a less common) structure implies the
existence of an unmarked (a common) structure
Markedeness:
-Unmarked characteristic are more common (e.g oral
vowels)
-Marked features are more complex and less common (e.g
nasal vowels)

4. Polysynthetic
if a language have fricative, always have stops
Word order: fixed (English) SVO
Free ( Persian) SOV
SVO ( subject+verb+object), SOV ,( e.g Ice cream, I like!)
