Importance of different types of contexts in our interpretation of meaning. Deixis another form of reference a specific type of reference which is specific to the context. When you change the context, you change the inherent meaning of the word. Person deixis: pronouns change their meaning when you change who"s speaking, who"s listening or who is being referred to. Temporal deixis: refers to time in relation to moment of speaking. Discourse deixis: referring to something else in speech refer to something that has been already said in the conversation. Personal experience with the word will give a better understanding of it. If we have that lexical understand and context we will have a good enough understand of the word for use in communication. Knowledge of facts, not essential to meaning of the word, vary from person to person based on their knowledge: ex. Further develop our understanding of the word will we want to use encyclopaedias.
