The distinction between semiotics, semantics and linguistic semantics. Semiotics the meaning of signs ex. like street sign within semiotics we find semantics and linguistic semantics. When we say linguistics semantic we focus on the study of meaning with regards to vocab and grammar of natural languages. Semantics does fit in the branch of semiotics but semiotics also looks at things outside of language and such as other types of sings in the world. We have actions that we do throughout the day semiotic is when a person is doing an action as an intention to communicate. A lot of the actions that we do throughout the day are non-semiotic, we do by necessity and not because we intend to communicate with others. That is that we discussed last week. There is no one word is french that means to mean" you have to want to say" something using two verbs vouloir dire".
