Process of a language becoming the native language of a speech community. The creole exits but because of the proximity of the lexifier language, there is decreolization. Where the vocabulary or lexicon comes from. One or more languages that gives the grammar to the creole. Scale or spectrum that measures the relation the creole has in distance to the superstrate language. Consists of the basilect, acrolect & mesolect. Basilect: farthest away from the lexifier language. Mesolect: in between the basilect and acrolect. A language that has certain traits that we see in a creole but the types of circumstances that created it were different. Fre/linc47h pidgin and creole languages: ex. gliches: spangish, tanglish. Target language that you are moving towards, but you haven"t become proficient in it yet.
